A world apart: the luxury of private spaces in four charming resorts in Sardinia

From the Infinity Lounge at Petra Segreta Resort & Spa and the Summerhouse at Cascioni Eco Retreat, to the Torrino at Casa Clàt and the Cavern at Gallicantu: four exclusive venues for boutique events, private dinners and summer celebrations, to be shared with a select few.

A growing trend is reshaping the way we enjoy special occasions, intimate dinners and moments shared with loved ones – driving an increasing desire for reserved and secluded settings, far from crowded holiday destinations. In this contemporary vision of hospitality, the spirit of the place plays a fundamental role.

Four locations in particular, stretching from the north to the south of Sardinia, are responding to this new demand with original and refined offerings. Here’s a closer look at each:

Petra Segreta Resort & Spa: gourmet experiences in the private dining room at Il Fuoco Sacro
Tucked away in the hills of San Pantaleo, in the north-east of the island, Petra Segreta Resort & Spa combines the charm of the Gallura countryside with the five-star services of a Relais & Chateaux property. At the heart of five hectares of Mediterranean scrub, surrounded by essences of myrtle, mastic and juniper trees, lies the Infinity Lounge. This is the private dining room at Il Fuoco Sacro, the resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant, a favourite among discerning guests and celebrities alike, thanks to its guaranteed privacy.
Until September, this panoramic haven will host Krug x Petra Segreta, an exceptional tasting experience open to both guests and non-residents by reservation. Head Chef Alessandro Menditto’s menu is inspired by the Krug philosophy and this year’s featured ingredient – the versatile carrot – and designed to bring out the best in the five labels from the legendary Maison included in the tasting. On Tuesday 5 August, the culinary spotlight intensifies with the Krug Dining Experience: a four-hands dinner-event with award-winning chef Enrico Bartolini, preceded by a spectacular aperitif overlooking the gulf, paired with the latest editions of Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé.

Casa Clàt: private gatherings in the Torrino with a view over Cagliari
Cagliari’s historic Palazzo Frau is home to Casa Clàt, a suite hotel with an eclectic spirit located on the central Viale Regina Margherita, one of the most vibrant streets in the Sardinian capital. After sunset, the hotel reveals its most exclusive allure. At the top is “Il Torrino”, a furnished terrace offering sweeping views over the city and the Gulf of Cagliari. This versatile space can be reserved for a romantic dinner or a party with friends, for up to 8 guests, complete with dedicated bar and kitchen service. The hotel’s garden also plays host to refined experiences: a verdant outdoor lounge with a corner reserved for tastings of the island’s finest raw seafood, meticulously curated by Executive Chef Tonio Sogus.

Cascioni Eco Retreat, romantic dinners among the olive trees
Nestled between Arzachena and Porto Cervo, Cascioni is a 5-star eco retreat set at the centre of an 18-hectare estate dotted with olive groves, vegetable gardens and wheat fields. Here, guests can reserve a magical dinner under the stars in an enchanted corner of the park, or inside the multifunctional Summerhouse, offering large windows overlooking the olive grove. Michelin-starred chef Salvatore Camedda, at the helm of the resort’s Ulìa restaurant, proposes a concept of sustainable gourmet cuisine that is deeply rooted in the territory. The resort also features a modern spa, a botanical garden and a birdwatching tower within the neighbouring Saloni nature reserve

Gallicantu Stazzo Retreat: aperitifs in the cavern, private dinners in the Greenhouse
Don’t leave Gallura without raising a glass in the Cavern at Gallicantu, a stazzo retreat in Luogosanto, at the heart of the Gallura region. This ancient natural cave, inhabited since preNuragic times, now serves as the atmospheric wine cellar at this boutique resort offering nine rooms, each uniquely designed. Tastings in the Cavern of wine, local cured meats and cheeses are a favourite among guests, who can enjoy the cool shelter even on the hottest days, along with a wide selection of labels from the island’s leading producers. Perfect for dinners by reservation or small private events is the Greenhouse – a beautiful glass lounge surrounded by nature, ideal for celebrating special occasions with close friends, far from the commotion of the coast.
