Poltu Quatu’s new energy lights up the summer in Sardinia

Following the opening of the W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu, the “hidden port”confirms its position as one of the most dynamic destinations on the north-east coast, sparkling with hospitality, gastronomy and new lifestyle experiences

Caffè della Piazza

The season in Poltu Quatu opens with fresh new energy. One year on from the relaunch led by Castello Sgr, and following the debut of the W Sardinia-Poltu Quatu on 1st May, the village continues to evolve, consolidating an increasingly vibrant, contemporary and international identity.

Born in the late 1980s, between Porto Cervo and Baja Sardinia, Poltu Quatu celebrates a deeply Mediterranean aesthetic, with its curved lines, whitewashed walls, central piazzetta and the Marina dell’Orso harbour. Today, this iconic setting returns to the heart of a new way of experiencing the destination, one that embraces hospitality, gastronomy and sociability.

The Borgo Marina Homesuites complete the offering: rental apartments designed for guests seeking greater freedom and independence, while remaining fully connected with the life of the flourishing village.

Morning in the Marina
The day begins at Caffè della Piazza, overlooking the water. The tables fill up while boats are still bobbing at their moorings, and the day’s possibilities are yet to unfold.

Some set off to discover picturesque coves such as Liscia René, ideal for snorkelling. Others set sail from the Marina dell’Orso headed for Spargi, Caprera and the other islands of the archipelago.

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, a large Technogym wellness area overlooks the harbour, with dedicated trainers and personalised programmes.

Not far away, tennis and padel courts managed by Lux Tennis host private lessons, tailor-made training sessions and group clinics.

W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu

From Afternoon to Sunset
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to the W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu, which has quickly become one of the central hubs of the newly re-energised village. Part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, the hotel brings informal, contemporary hospitality, blending avant-garde design with local traditions through collaborations with artists, artisans and performers from across the island.

The restyling, curated by New York studio Meyer Davis, drew inspiration from the original vision of architect Claude Lesuisse, preserving wide arches and geometric openings that create a characterful dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.

The communal areas, from the W Lounge to the WET Deck with its terrace and swimming pool, animate the hotel’s social and gastronomic scene thanks to a dynamic calendar of events, live music and DJ sets that continue through sunset.

Ristorante Tanit

Into the Evening
Poltu Quatu reveals its most vibrant and international side as evening falls. The promenade that leads from the little piazza across the harbour and continues along the Marina dell’Orso offers a diverse selection of venues, each with its own style, cuisine and atmosphere.

New for this season is IYO, an icon of contemporary Japanese cuisine in Italy, led by Executive Chef Takeshi Iwai together with Resident Chef Andrea Besana. Also eagerly awaited is the opening of Carnissage: Martino Uzzauto’s concept offers a full menu ranging from meat to raw fish, via Mediterranean-inspired pasta dishes, shellfish and seafood.

Alongside these new openings, some firm favourites of village life return. From the Caffè della Piazza, which this year inaugurates its American Bar, serving signature drinks perfect for a sunset aperitif or to round off the evening, to CouCou Sardinia, renowned for its Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of French flair and cocktails crafted with distinctive ingredients.

For lovers of ultra-thin Roman pizza, Le Specialità brings to the village a format already tried and tested in Milan and Miami, while at Il Marchese, contemporary Roman cuisine and rituals centred around bitters meet the flavours of Sardinia. Aruanã Churrascaria is a must-visit for lovers of Brazilian churrasco and rodizio, and finally Tanit, directly overlooking the marina, completes the gastronomic landscape of Poltu Quatu with a contemporary seafood menu built around high-quality local ingredients.
